BUCKEYE BURL (AESCULUS CALIFORNICA) - Harvested from Northern California is one of the lightest by weight woods when completely dried. The Buckeye Burl is incredibly beautiful - containing burl clusters, amazing color variation, and great character. Colors can range from golden yellow to brown with blackish-blue and even red accents. In this series Rodney John has personally selected unique pieces and applied a series of coats of epoxy resin to the full piece, bringing out the natural cluster patterns created over fifty plus years. With the larger series, Rodney John has left one side in its natural color state and other side has been given a multi-step bleaching process to fade the natural dark colors common to Buckeye Burl while highlighting natures clustering patterns. No piece is ever alike. The artist finishes off the Buckeye Burl with custom bases to support the pieces for a 360-degree viewing pleasure.
